Pastor's Corner

Welcome to Salem UCC. I joined this church in ministry in January of 2010, and am inspired by the adventure before us. This congregation was founded with a clear mission to serve Christ in the City. Since that time, the city has undergone continual changes so that each generation is challenged to recreate what it means to be the Kingdom of God here in downtown Rochester.

During my 20+ years in ministry, I have learned to cherish the stories of those gathered in any particular place at any particular time – seeing in the intersection of those stories, the unique presence of God. For this reason, I am equally excited to get to know people who have worshiped in this sanctuary for 50 years, and the people that are going to walk through the doors for the first time this coming Sunday. Each person carries with them a significant history, perspective, understanding, character, calling. In getting to know each other, we come closer to knowing the heart of God.
